Nattokinase is an enzyme that was discovered within the popular Japanese food natto, a fermented soybean cheese. It is produced by extracting the enzyme from a fermentation process of the bacteria Bacillus subtilis. This enzyme is well-researched and known for its ability to dissolve fibrin, a strong protein that assists with the blood-clotting process.
In fact, nattokinase has been found to be four times stronger than human plasmin, the native enzyme that breaks down fibrin and blood clots. It also holds the title for the most powerful fibrin-dissolving enzyme.
Let’s look at three health issues in which nattokinase has been found to improve: blood clots, blood flow for better cardiovascular health, and blood pressure.
Serrapeptase is a very potent proteolytic (protein-dissolving) enzyme that speeds up the process of breaking down specific proteins.
Believe it or not, Serrapeptase was discovered to be produced naturally in the intestines of silkworms by a beneficial bacteria called Serratia Marcescens. These bacteria are critical to a silkworm’s survival, as they break down its protein-rich silk cocoon when it is time for the moth to be released. No silkworms are harmed or even utilized to make serrapeptase for dietary use, as the enzyme is created from a fermentation process of the Serratia Marcescens bacteria.
These days we spend much of our time reviewing particular nutrient levels with the body, associating these deficiencies or as some might say displacements with certain health conditions. Yet could the net effect of a lack of key nutrients like Vitamin D be a reduced level of mitochondrial and bio-photon activity, which are needed to optimise our natural ability to hold and convert light into respiratory energy, or ATP.
With over half a million active vegans in the UK, we continue to identify and understand many of the potential benefits of a more plant-based or vegan diet, in particular, the growing need to consider regular supplementation of key nutrient groups.
Vegan and plant-based diets have many known health benefits associated with them. As well as for many countering the moral and ethical issues associated with eating meat, they have been shown to improve health in certain areas, such as by...
Should vegans and those on a mainly plant-based diet consider supplementing choline, that is essential to maintain optimum brain and central nervous system function and is necessary for optimum function of avery cell in our body.
Antioxidants are an important group of substances that can be obtained from natural food sources or food supplements. They are substances which can slow down or prevent the damage to our cells caused by free radical activity, connected to the visible signs of aging and many other associated dis-eases (inflammation).
