For the last couple of years, practitioners have asked, why doesn't Conella stock any form of CBD oils, when a reported quarter of a million people in the UK took cannabis CBDs in 2018. which has naturally led to CBD oils becoming a hot topic among the CAM profession, with practitioners frequently debating their merits, without fully understanding the potential pitfalls of this action.
It’s a controversial topic, to say the least, and many CAM practitioners wonder where they stand in terms of recommending this type of product to their clients. According to the renowned Federation of Nutritional Therapy Practitioners (FNTP), many could be unintentionally invalidating their professional insurance cover, by failing to apply due diligence, leaving them open to the possibility of disciplinary hearings, and even cause their merchant payment service to be withdrawn.
So what's the big issue?
The problem lies in the THC or THC-V levels that such products can contain. These are found naturally in cannabis and can be classed as a ‘controlled substance’ under the MDA 1971/MDR 2001. Though the Home Office suggests that CBD oil products should not technically contain "ANY" THC, so it’s a risk many CAM practitioners are simply not willing to take. infact The FNTP's advice is as follows:
