An approach that goes beyond the simplistic observations of biochemistry, favouring instead the development of observational methods designed to evaluate our ability to hold and convert light into energy. Just like a solar panel our mitochondrial function holds the ability to create ATP (needed for respiratory energy), the more anaerobic a cell the less effective it would appear to be at creating this essential ATP.
